Mafia and Anti-Mafia Bibliography site
An open digital collaborative bibliography of mafia and anit-mafia scholarship from American scholars
Mission statement
This project is a collaboration between Dr. Giordana Poggioli-Kaftan, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Italian Language, Culture, and Literature at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Dr. Umberto Santino, Director of the Centro siciliano di documentazione "Giuseppe Impastato" (Cultural Center for Anti-Mafia Giuseppe Impastato), one of Italy's major anti-mafia centers located in Palermo, Italy. The project is developing an open digital collaborative bibliography of American academic literature on Cosa Nostra, the Sicilian Mafia, and civic society’s anti-mafia movements in Sicily. Center Impastato has been active in Italy in pushing for legislation at the national level, creating an archive that documents the history of the mafia and anti-mafia movements. The center’s objective is to educate young generations about lawfulness culture, and create awareness about global mafias’ political, economic, and social threats by visiting schools and universities around the world.
